Pisespong Patamasucon, M.D. provides high quality, specialized care as the Consultant in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. Previously the Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Dr. Patamasucon's esteemed and diverse background enables him to effectively treat a wide array of patients. A board-certified pediatrician and pediatric infectious disease specialist, Dr. Patamasucon studied at the Chiang Mai University in Thailand before completing pediatric residencies at the Children's Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, and Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Following his Georgetown residency, Dr. Patamasucon completed a fellowship at the University of Texas South Western Medical School in Dallas. Within the scope of his field, Dr. Patamasucon has a special interest in the clinical use of antibiotic and antimicrobial agents in children. He is also a revered scholar in the areas of viral, fungal and parasitic agents, as well as in formal infectious disease syndrome approaches. Dr. Patamasucon has also taught pediatric medicine at a number of universities since 1981. Prior to his roles at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, he was the Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Director of the International Health Program at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. While at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Patamasucon established and oversaw an exchange program between the university's medical program and schools and teaching hospitals in Thailand. In addition to his extensive background in academia, Dr. Patamasucon holds a long list of honors, awards and publications to his name. Most recently, he was earned the Top Doctor award in pediatric infectious disease with an emphasis in antibiotic resistance from Desert Companion magazine from 2010-2016. Other honors include Specialist of the Year and the Outstanding Faculty Teaching award from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, as well as a Golden Apple award from the University of Tennessee. A noted scholar in his field, Dr. Patamasucon's publications include a wide range of textbooks, journals and clinical pediatric infectious diseases publications.
